Pilot Plant Trials

Once the basic parameters such as crystal size and crystal shape have been established the next step in validating whether the melt crystallisation and technology is suitable for your separation process will  be a trial program on the SoliQz multi purpose pilot facility. Since June 2016 SoliQz operates its state-of-art facility at PlantOne in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. At this site we can carry out pilot-scale tests for a very broad range of chemicals. These trials will typically last 2-3  weeks and will provide a very good insight in the purity level and yield that can be achieved with the technology. You will also get between 5-75 kg/hr of highly purified product (depending on  viscosity and other product parameters).

For the pilot scale test we require approx. 150-200 liters of your material. To cover the costs of resources and equipment a charge will be asked for the execution of the trials.

The pilot scale trials will also give provide the scale-up parameters required for the design and construction of a commercial-scale installation. At this stage we can also provide a representative budget quotation for a commercial scale installation.

If you want to test the technology with in-line product streams from your existing process longer pilot trials can be carried out at your plant location.

Over the years soliqz and TNO have successfully tested over 50 compounds at pilot-scale with the Hydraulic wash column technology. A brief list of these compounds is provided below:

  • Acetonitrile
  • 1,4 Butanediol
  • Sodium Hydroxide Monohydrate
  • Dimethyl Carbonate
  • Tolylene-2,4-diisocyanate (TDI)
  • Caprolactam
  • Water (Cofee, Beer, Juices….)
  • Phosphoric acid hemihydrate
  • Acenaphthene
  • Hydrogen Peroxide
  • Dicyclopentadiene
  • Lactide
  • Benzene
  • 4,4-Diphenylmethane Diisocyanate (MDI)
  • 2,4-Toluenediamine
  • 4-Chlortoluene (1 chloro-4 metylbenzene)
  • Phenol
  • Azelaic Acid
  • Acrylic Acid
  • Phosphoric Acid
  • Benzoic acid
  • p-Xylene
  • Maleic anhydride
  • Caprolactam
  • 2-Methylacrylic Acid (Methacrylic Acid)
  • 1,4-Dichlorobenzene (p-DCB)
  • 1,2,4,5-Tetramethylbenzene (Durene)
  • Acetic acid
  • Sodium Hydroxide Monohydrate

We consider the pilot testing phase to be extremely valuable to both determining the suitability of the SoliQz technology and finding the design parameters for the commercial scale facility for your purification process.  We strongly recommended the pilot testing and have now received faadback from one of our recent customers on their experience with pilot testing: A flying start with SoliQz
